Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi are part of a group of 44 islands in the Andaman Sea that are located near the southern end of Phang Nga Bay. Phuket is not far from Koh Yao Yai. But the only way to get around Koh Yao Yai is by boat because there isn’t an airport there. It takes roughly thirty minutes to travel the twenty-three kilometers (four miles) that separate Phuket from Koh Yao Yai.
The time it takes to get from Phuket to Koh Yao Yai will depend on where you start in Phuket. It could take longer to get to the piers on Koh Yao Yai if you’re in Phuket Town, which is in the southern part of the island. If you want to get there faster, think about heading north on Phuket and boarding a speedboat from one of the nearby piers.
